Short Race ~3 miles. Designed for novices and recreational paddlers. Course will be within 1/2 mile of shore at all times. Race will start with all boats in the water and out of the surf zone. Click here to see map and aerial views of short course.
Long Race ~ 8 miles. Designed for intermediate and advanced paddlers. Course will stay within 3/4 mile of shore. Race will start in the bay and proceed out the channel around the pier and westerly approx 4 miles before rounding a buoy and returning to the beach. Finish will be on the lake. Alternate Courses. In case Lake Ontario is too rough for the race, the race will be moved to the adjacent Irondquoit Bay. Both course distances will be maintained. Long Course will consist of 3 loops of the current short course.

Short Race Classes

Kayak Class Descriptions: USCA Specs.
- Unlimited: any single kayak, sit-on-top or surf ski excluded in other classes.
- Touring: kayak and surfskis- max length of 20 ft and a 4" waterline beam of at least 18 inches
- Sea Kayak: any single kayak, sit-on-top or surf ski with a maximum length of 18 ft and 4 inch waterline of at least 8.5% of the length, 40 # weight min, bulkheads fore and aft or airbags.
- Recreational: max overall length of 16 ft and a 4:" waterline beam of at least 22".
